Comedy on Vinyl 1960/70’s North England.?
Can anyone tell me who the man was who was a comedian and did comedy acts in front of an audience possibly working men’s clubs and his shows were put onto vinyl. Comedy was all about working class life. He could be from Sheffield or Yorkshire, North England. The covers of the albums were black and white and some of them had chimneys on them. 12 ” albums. You can hear the audience laughing in the background as it is live. He may have been called Fred but not sure. Thanks for your help. Been racking my brain for ages now.
This is probably completely wrong, but my mum and dad had some Blaster Bates records, they were black & white and had chimneys on them. I never heard them myself as they were not considered suitable material for my young ears, so I can’t say what the subject matter was. But I remember that mum & dad found them hilarious and that the man spoke with a northern accent and had been recorded in front of a live audience.
As I said it’s probably completely wrong, but the chimney thing rang a bell. Anyway, good luck with your search!
