Have you ever had your vinyl records ruined?
Misery loves company, so I’d like to know I’m not alone…
Have you ever had any of your vinyl ruined by the weather (sun, rain) or gotten it broken some other way?
I was packing for my move to Portland and discovered my original pressing of Pink Floyd’s , “The Wall” and my Tears For Fears, “Songs from the Big Chair”, in horrible shape.
My bf’s Fugazi’s (err…can’t remember the name of it…Big Hits or something) is also ruined.
What I am assuming happened, is the last time it hailed here, the water came in through cracks and destroyed them.
I had them sitting on the top of my record player (not sure if it still works!) near the window well in the basement.
Has anything like this ever happened to you?
We were supposed to leave today, but it looks like it will be tomorrow because the final packing is taking so long…

My college roommate destroyed several of my records when she decided to clean our room solo. My records were in rows on the floor innocently leaning against the wall. She moved them to sweep “because dust can get underneath”. Unfortunately the new home she found for them was leaning against the radiator which destroyed five of them. One was one of my favorites which has never been transferred to CD and I’ve never been able to find despite tirelessly searching. I still have the warped LP. And I still have hope that someday our paths will cross again….
