I utterly loved in my teens (In this case, it was Fairport Convention’s Liege and Lief, recorded while the supremely talented and magically-voiced Sandy Denny was still alive). I had in on vinyl, and couldn’t resist: I ordered it on CD–it arrived this afternoon, and amazingly enough, I am in NO WAY DISAPPOINTED!!!
I was half-afraid to get it, because I was half-afraid that it wouldn’t live up to my memory. The same thing happens with books–you get it, and it’s either JUST as cool as you remember–or it’s something you can’t imagine EVER thinking was good.
What are some of your “rediscovered treasures” and “resurrected junk” experiences?
as I’ve ordered an watched several movies that I loved as a teen and wasn’t disappointed either!
Come Back Little Sheba – An intense drama starring Burt Lancaster and Shirley Booth – just as stirring as when I saw it the first time.
Elmer Gantry – starring Burt Lancaster and Shirley Jones – just as riveting as I remember it!
On the Waterfront – starring Marlon Brando and Eva Marie Saint – it was great to see the young, good looking Brando again!
On the Beach – starring Gregory Peck – still scary and thought provoking.
A Place In the Sun – starring Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor. This movie made such an impression on me when I was young; when I watched it again a few years ago, it stood the test of time and is still a heartbreaker.
