I have a cat who frequently throws up after eating – what do I do?
Elevating the food helped a little, but we’re moving to a place that’s carpeted (except the kitchen and bathroom) and it’s going to be a much bigger issue (cleaning it up off wood floors or vinyl hasn’t been difficult and hasn’t damaged any surfaces). I’m not sure how long after eating it happens, but it’s completely undigested food. She’s 7 or 8 and generally pretty skittish, but wants lap time every night. She’s a small-framed and wiry DSH (judging by her bone structure and truly amazing yowl, probably a good dose of Siamese), with a thin, but soft and shiny coat, who’s always been in good health. This has been going on a long time and doesn’t seem to change based on the type of food we feed them. We have 2 other cats, ages 13 and 11 who don’t do this. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
I agree with the others who say she is over-feeding and/or eating too quickly because of the other cats. You should try feeding her in a room by herself to see if she still throws up afterwards. Once she starts eating normally and slowly you may be able to gradually re-introduce the other cats to her feeding time.
