home remodel what do I do first?
We purchased a house and we need to make some upgrades.
My daughters room has old windows that blow cold air into her room. They are currently covered in plastic for the winter. Well one of my first things on my list of home improvements is her windows. I also wanted to remove the old vinyl siding, put up new weather proofing foam & re-side it with concrete siding.
Is it easier to do the windows first then siding or the other way around?
Another upgrade is the basement. I want to finish it. But during the summer the pipes sweat causing moisture I understand a dehumidifier would help but how can I tell where the moisture is coming from? What do I look for. I don’t see obvious water damage on the walls?? And I don’t want to hang dry wall and in a few months notice mold!

Vinyl siding is usually put right up against the window.. so you have to at least pull the siding loose around the window to get the windows out (they are nailed from the outside). I’d do windows first.. just because of the cold being able to come in like that.. it’ll probably make the biggest difference in heating.
Maybe your humidity is just high there in the Summer.. and that is why your pipes sweat so much. But.. even concrete with leach water… if your ground is wet then it will seep into your house without you having to see it. We’ve had to dig around peoples basements and seal them with a tar-like product to prevent the extra water from making it in.
