what was the band that got you into music as a whole?
I honestly must admit to my cliche.. when I was 10, my Mom use to own every single Beatles vinyl ever made.. this was circa 98-99 and I thought it was just “hippie crap” but that was because I just heard the music, I did not actually listen, well, when I snuck one Beatles record.. I think it was the Sgt Peppers album because I wanted to know what was so “greaT” about the band and well.. from that day on I listened to so many bands and have picked up learning how to make my own songs, playing guitar, and Every night after that one, I would would listen to the Beatles constantly, and My love for music, while not trying to be cocky, is greater than most, I love music, its not something I turn on to go to work, or something I listen to at a party.. even though both are great, its like my entire life is a soundtrack, I love music.
so enough of my rambling, lol what about you? what band or artist got you into music?
Nirvana
I listened to music before Nirvana – mostly Motown, Classic Rock and Prog Rock, thanks to my parents… and then some rap thanks to my friends.
But my cousin introduced me to Nirvana a couple of months before In Utero came out and everything completely changed. And I know that sounds crazy and a little extreme – but the music washed over me, and I was in awe of it. I don’t know what it was. I was in middle school. And maybe a little more angst-ridden than I should have been – but it was just this awesome thing. I loved the noise and grit of it. And the pop hooks that carried it all and got it caught in my head. And through Nirvana I found the Melvins, Sonic Youth, the Meat Puppets, Flipper, Dinosaur Jr. the Vaselines, the Wipers, and so on and so on and so on….. and the slippery slope of life has brought me here.
